Interesting!

Verified Purchase You should read this book if you like espionage and action stories set in World War II, but with a twist. This book offers a unique perspective, focusing on the fight against Nazi infiltration inside the United States before Humph finally has his moment overseas. It is a story about perseverance and how the desire to serve can manifest itself in unexpected ways.

The good thing about this text is that you are immersed in a lesser-known part of the war: the internal fight against infiltration. It’s exciting to see how Humph, initially frustrated, finds his own battlefield and becomes crucial to the cause. And don’t worry, the action doesn’t just stay at home but eventually takes him all the way to England for an epic showdown.

Totally recommended!

War in its own way

The story of this character is very interesting and striking, because when someone has such a clear objective and is so determined, no matter how many doors you find closed along the way, you always end up reaching the goal even if it is in different ways than you expected. The book I think leaves me learning more than anything else, a man who contributed to his country in a different way than he expected, but at the end of the day, he fulfilled and did not give up to meet that expectation. The narrative is precise and very involving, the truth captivated me from moment zero and I finished it much faster than I expected. I just have to say that it is an excellent work.

Humph’s War is a detective thriller written by Wayne Clark. It follows the story of Humph, a dedicated police officer with a strong patriotic sentiment. After a murder crime scene, he start uncovering a net of Nazi’s operating in the US, and will do everything
in his power to protect his country.

Overall, it was an engaging and fascinating read. The novel transports the reader to those times, with accurate descriptions of the world and political sphere back then (1940s). I recommend it for readers who enjoy fast-paced stories with an intricate plot,
a book that must be read with attention to detail to fully get the picture.

A super interesting book that will make you feel like you are reading a real life story as it goes back to WWII and living the life of a man who wants to dedicate himself to serving his country in the war. The story unfolds once he recognizes that he will not be able to go to the service but that his battle is on the streets of America and there begins his journey that is too intense and unbelievable. I really liked the author’s way of writing, he manages to connect with the reader and provides super deep moments that also lead you to reflect on simple aspects such as work and belonging.

An epic story about silent heroism

This is a story about a determined man, as many others, to protect his country from its enemies. Even though this a book set in the early 1940s, when there was a ferreous patriotism in many citizens after WW II, Humph’s story is a timeless one. The main character reflects on the desire that his courage could be seen and validated as well, a trait that is universal for every man and woman around the world nowadays. That is why I found worth reading this title.

From the moment Humph realizes that his fight begins not overseas but in the streets of America, Humph’s War grips you with relentless purpose. He’s a man driven by patriotism—knocking on the doors of the Army and the FBI, only to be rebuffed—and his frustration crackles with authenticity.
Short jolts of prose hammer home his determination—”I will serve.”—and longer, more descriptive passages draw you into a shadowy world of secret meetings, coded messages, and risky alliances. As Humph continues as an amateur sleuth, uncovering Nazi sympathizers in sleepy towns and bringing danger to his own doorstep, the suspense takes off.The climactic pursuit of a celebrated pro-Nazi art forger across the Atlantic feels both cinematic and intimately personal.
Humph’s War isn’t a spy novel. It’s a tribute to men who stood against despotism out in the open, using nothing other than conviction and courage. A swift-moving, impassioned, and completely engrossing book, this deserves to be on every reader’s shelf. Essential reading for fans of historical thrillers and for anybody who believes that there is no battlefield of heroism.
