It should come no surprise that That Woman: Beating the odds in Colonial New York elicits the nominations at the Book Excellence Awards. Veteran author, Wayne Clark, narrates a convincing tale, albeit a reflective one, of what can occur in the lives of captives in the hands of another. The tale revolves around Sarah and Jacob, her brother, as they are kidnapped from a bereaved father, and taken to the city of New York for slavery. Well told, entertaining, humorous, sad, honest and captivating. A really remarkable read.

Wayne is a Montreal based writer, editor and translator.
