Celebrity Midlife Crisis

Of late the gossip rags and TV entertainment networks have been hurling the term “male midlife crisis” around like confetti at a wedding wherever they spot possible trouble in a celebrity couple’s paradise,

it seems like those three words are becoming a catch-all phrase for armchair psychologists. The latest case in point was a claim that Ben Affleck was cheating on Jennifer Garner because he was in the grips of midlife crisis. The claim was made on Radar Online which, in turn, was citing The National Enquirer as its source .

As if that weren’t enough there was even a story in Gossip Cop stating that Jennifer Lopez is “in the middle of a midlife meltdown” over her ex-fiancé, Ben Affleck, who also appeared to have fallen prey to the same meltdown.

It’s as if female and male midlife crisis has become a media-borne contagion, especially for the fairly young.

Kit, the protagonist in my fictional he & She found a way out of male midlife crisis, admittedly a highly unorthodox one. For him, the crisis was real. At least he didn’t have to deal with the gossip industry while pursing a way out.
