That Woman: Beating the odd in Colonial New York by Wayne Clark is the whole package! The plot drug me in and I couldn’t stop reading from the moment I started it. The characters are amazing, personable and multidimensional. Everything was beautifully done! Even though it is a historical novel, it didn’t have that colonial feel to it. This could easily be a book about a woman right now in the current day and age. The story follows Sarah Da Silva in a seemingly uneventful life until her mother dies, her father falls into massive debt, and then to top it off she and her brother are kidnapped and shipped to America to become slaves. Sarah is bound and determined to get free and find her brother. Throughout the story I found myself completely drawn in and pulling for Sarah and her brother. I highly recommend this amazing book to anyone!
