Sarah Da Silva and her brother lost their mother and are quickly becoming in danger of losing their father as well. A wealthy merchant, their father makes plans to save his family but is thwarted when his children are kidnapped. Now under the power of a dangerous merchant, Sarah must do whatever it takes to stay alive. Though the book gets a bit of a rocky start, things pick up as Sarah’s life becomes more dangerous. Lovers of historical fiction will thoroughly enjoy Clark’s writing.
