Tedious

This most tedious book follows the last few years of the life of forty-something Kit Cayman, a translator of documents and wannabe musician, as he struggles with discontent and boredom by turning to the world of BDSM to find some kind of spark.

The book is best at showing how an unfulfilled life can become overwhelming. However, that cannot save the book. It is not quite believable that Kit, a man really incapable of truly interacting with women, could find much satisfaction in the fantasy world of BDSM. The various females he meets in the world of BDSM are all completely forgettable. The book is overly long and monotonous in its following of Kit’s exercises in futility and fantasy.
