he and She is a very interesting take on the experiences of growing older and having the different areas within our lives that can easily change without a moments notice. Wayne Clark shows Kit and all of the relationships that he has as a way of expressing the different pitfalls that can occur, as well as how valuable relationships can be to an individual’s success or failure. I think this addresses more problems that are had as we grow older and provides more outlets on how to appropriately fix said issues in a healthy way, unlike some novels (Fifty Shades of Grey, for example) that do not accurately display relationships in a healthy manner. I think the dynamic between Kit and Alana is very important as well, giving a steady understanding to why Kit acts the way he does. Overall, the decisions that are made within the novel directly affect what happens later, which makes for a nice ending within a complex piece of literature.

Wayne is a Montreal based writer, editor and translator.
